Welcome to Takedowns

December
2

Section 1 Wrestlers, Section 1 wrestling coaches and wrestling fans, welcome to Takedowns. This is the latest addition to the Journal News (LoHud) website of high school blogs.
I look forward to sharing my thoughts and opinions on what I feel is a great sport – wrestling.
More importantly though, this blog is here for you – the wrestlers, coaches and fans. Don’t be shy. Let me know what you think. However, based on the removal of the Forum on the Section 1 Coaches website due to inappropriate postings, please remember to keep your comments clean. This blog will be monitored closely.
The season oficially opened yesterday as Ossining faced two-time defending Section 1 large-school titlist Mahopac as ‘Pac coach Sal Imbimbo faced his former school. Mahopac, fueled by five pins, defeated Ossining, 46-15. Two-time sectional champion Dom Oddo opened his season with a first-period pin. Even with the loss of four-time sectional champion David Colagiovanni and state place-finisher Blaise Flamio, Imbimbo feels this is one of his strongest teams.

I’m looking forward to fans using this blog to discuss wrestling issues among serious fans instead of how the forum degraded to infantile remarks meant to denegrade our section’s athletes. We’re very fortunate to have the coverage we do from someone who understands the intricacies of great sport. Keep up the good work!!

Ok, my son is a wrestler. But I think it is mad cool that you’ve the support of all these coaches. Speaks to your knowledge etc. But with a blog, you are going to “cross the line a bit” in order to get fan reaction.

Fox lane defeated Brewster today. Tough afternoon for Brewster, one win and one forfeit. 10 points total for them. I wish them a better rest of season.
