Coach Torres is stirring the pot with his mention of the 112-pound weight class.
While it is a deep class, I think some of the mentioned wrestlers are certified at 103. I know Joe Slane of North Rockland and Ryan Tompkins of Beacon are certifed at 103. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think Mark Arcara is also certified at 103. If I am wrong, I know regular blog contributor and Harrison coach Vin Nicita will correct me.
So while the debate rages about 135 pounds and 112 pounds, let’s throw the 103-pound weight class into the mix.
The O’Connell tournament final should be Djimitry Georges of East Ramapo and Joey Grippi of Fox Lane. All eyes will be on that match.

Georges will likely be at 119 will Grippi stay 119 to wrestle him, or duck and go 112?
Arcara is certified at 103? That seems incredibly unhealthy…
Tompkins is a good size 112, if he goes 103 that seems pretty unhealthy too.
Tony,
Mark and I believe Tompkins both certified at 112lbs not 103. And I agree 103 could be interesting also but do you agree 112 could be very interesting if everyone stays at 112? I think Garcis from White Plains certified at 103.
I know several of these wrestlers where weighing close to 119 2 weeks prior to the season and looked thin at that point. They went on to certify for 103. At the very least its unhealthy and at the worst its…......(well you decide).
Observer give us some names. I have a senior that weighed out of practice at 126.0 lbs today, after 3 days off, and he is certified for 130. I want to know who weighs 119.2, is lean and is certified at 103lbs. Wherever he got certified, my team will be there next year!!!
garcia certified at 103 and weighed in at 119 at the certifications. arcara certified at 112 and weighed 113 at the certifications.
Stay away from 103…..........Mike Rose (Carmel an exceptional wrestler….........
