Some sectional observations

Before I offer my take, here’s hoping Brian Boersma of John Jay-East Fishkill is feeling better. Boersma was forced to injury default to Ossining’s James Brundage after the first period. Former John Jay-East Fishkill volunteer assistant coach Joe Mahoney returned to the head table tonight (Saturday) to let me know that Boersma had suffered a concussion.
  Here we go:
96 – Justis Flamio dec. Brian Realbuto, 6-0: Flamio, a freshman, won his first sectional title, but Realbuto, only a 7th-grader, wrestled well. Here is the future of Section 1 wrestling in these two young men and man does it look good.
103 – Mike Ahearn dec. Mike Rose, 5-4: Give Ahearn a lot of credit for what he did. He wrestled Rose tough, stayed in the match throughout and then registered the decisive takedown with one second remaining. I get the feeling that next season Rose is going to be on a mission. Watch out.
112 – Mark Arcara dec. Joey Grippi, 2-0: In part 3 of their series, both wrestlers trumped the other’s strength. Grippi negated Arcara’s ‘sick’ ankle pick and low single, and Arcara thwarted Grippi’s effective switch. It was Arcara who registered a switch with 10 seconds remaining in the match for the only points. Arcara has two sectional titles, equaling the combined total of his father, Frank, and his uncle, Joe. Both won sectional titles in the 1970s.
119 – Vin Argese and dec. Caruso, 5-2: After Argese lost to Caruso in the dual, Argese wrestled an aggressive match. Argese was constantly shooting, keeping Caruso on the defensive. And, unlike many opponents, Argese escaped from Caruso’s neutralizer from top—legs.
125 – Dominick Oddo (named most outstanding wrestler) dec. Marc Zurla, 13-6: This was the match everyone was waiting for, anticipating a tight, down-to-the wire finish. Oddo would not allow any Zurla rally. Oddo won the match on his feet, with six takedowns, and did not allow Zurla to execute a tilt or cradle. Now, Zurla and Section 1 will await word on if this two-time sectional champ and state runner-up will receive a wild-card berth.
130 – Joe Perry and Ryan Martin: Perry joins his brother Chris, who was a sectional champ last season. Martin has a great season and concludes with 112 wins. And, don’t forget, he was a recent Con-Ed award winner.
135 – Steven Ramos dec. Charlie Trumm, 7-3: After losing to Trumm in the Mamaroneck tournament final in December, Ramos got h is revenge. Ramos has evolved into a fine young wrestler and one that will keep C. North coach Tony Mellino smiling.
140 – Ben Spiegel dec. John Galea, 12-11: Spiegel joins his father, Lee, as a sectional champ. Lee Spiegel was also a state champion during his high school career on Long Island. Galea deserves a lot of credit for his showing. He pinned North Rockland’s Joe Rodriguez in the semis, then rallied to even the score at 11-11 with Spiegel. However, Spiegel escaped with 10 seconds remaining for the winning point.
145 – James Brundage was leading Brian Boersma 4-0 after one when referee Ray Hirsch stopped the match. Boersma had been attended to by the trainer in the first period after a Brundage takedown.
152 – Kyle Friedman dec. Harrison Cook, 8-4: Friedman beat Cook for the fourth time and becomes John Jay’s first sectional champ since 1982. Friedman was able to negate Cook’s signature cradle.
160 – Tyler Lovas dec. Zeke Stambovsky, 4-2: Lovas gets a takedown with five seconds remaining in the match. It was quite a season as the pair met four times with Lovas winning three.
171 – Nick Cifuni dec. Greg Scott, 9-6: Cifuni jumped out quick with a pair of first-period takedowns and rode out Scott in the second period. Scott closed the gap to 5-3 and 6-5 in the third with a pair of takedowns.
189 – T.J. Nelson dec. Andrew Koudlai, 4-3: For the second consecutive week, Nelson defeated Port Chester’s John Calero and Koudlai to win. Last week, Nelson did this in the Division 1 final.
215 – Noel Clarke dec. Derek Phillips, 7-2: Clarke reached his third consecutive final and came away with this second sectional title. Despite the loss, Phillips had an excellent career, as a four-year starter at 215 pounds.
275 – Dave Colombo tech. fall Mike Gardner, 18-3: Colombo put on a clinic in the final. How often do you see a 275-pounder tech his opponent. Nice job Mayor Colombo.
And congratulations to Mahopac, coaches Salvatore Imbimbo, Dom Oddo and Joe Regan for winning its third consecutive large-school title and six sectional championship in the last seven years. Fox Lane was second and John Jay, in just its fifth year since returning to varsity status under coach and former Horace Greeley state champion, Bill Swertfager, finished third. Carmel took fourth and North Rockland was fifth.
On the small schools side, kudos to Nanuet, coach Brenden Rogers and assistant coach Rob Carbone for taking the team title. Rich Berkowitz won the 130-pound title for his fourth sectional crown and was named MOW.
Congratulations to Alex Pastena (135 pounds)  for becoming Putnam Valley’s first sectional champion. Coach Dr. Will Carano, a sectional champion for Mahopac in the 1980s, has done a great job developing the program since it was born in 2000-01.
Edgemont’s Genta Muryama took the 112-pound title and became the Panthers’ first champion since Anthony DeMaio won the, ironically, 112-pound crown in 1992.
Pleasantville’s Michael Esteves returned from an injury to win his school-record third sectional title. Pearl River junior John Coffey, a sectional runner-up last season, was dominant in winning the 145-pound title by tech fall.
Best performance by a runner-up goes to Nanuet junior Sal Arena. The 171-pounder had been hounded by injuries and illness all season, but Arena wrestled a strong tournament, beating 30-win wrestler Mike Todino of Eastchester in the first round. I had predicted Todino as someone to watch out for, but Arena out me in my place with that victory. Arena advanced to the final and wrestled champion Dennis Bencosme tough in a 5-2 decision. Â
Dan Constratano of Hastings deserves a tremendous amount of credit. After missing the entire regular season with a torn rotator cuff, he returns for sectionals and prevails. It reminds me of Nanuet’s Sean Conklin, who, if I remember correctly, missed the majority of his junior year with an injury, but came back and won the second of his three sectional titles.
Now it is on to states. Here’s hoping that Section 1 has a good tournament. Good luck to all of the champions.

Tony PinciaroPinciaro, who grew up in Silver Lake, has been covering high school wrestling for The Journal News for 14 years. During this period he has covered some of Section 1's finest wrestlers from Joe Mazzurco to Griff Powell to P.J. Bory to Phil Donnelly, just to name a few. Tony is married with two children, Elena, 9, and Vincent, 6, a future
Section 1 wrestler. (He can already take his father down with a double.)

In regards to the 130 match where 6th seeded (in the coaches poll) and 4th seeded in the divisionals, Joe Perry, beat the number 1 seed twice in consecutive weekends, dominated the number 3 seed (Harrison) and cradled, ankle picked and pinned Martin in the finals. He registered over 100 wins in 3 and a half years—he was injured last year and ended the season long before the sectionals with only 10 wins. He had an amazing year and tournament. I’m sorry, but I have to give credit where credit it due.
I can’t agree with you more!!! Here’s a kid that placed 3rd in the sectionals his freshman and sophmore years, couldn’t wrestle in sectionals his junior year and this year wrestles through one of the tougher weight class’s 2 weeks in a row and was crown Section champ. Great story. Amazing record for 3 1/4 seasons of wrestling… Way to go Joe!
If Zurla doesnt get a wild card bid, there should be an investigation.
Any body know when they are coming out with wild card picks
G- Wednesday morning from what I hear…
I watched mostly the large schools and I must say these were some of the best finals in years. All well contested matches, good sportsmanship and there was no need for the kids to be overshadowed by the refs as everyone wrestled hard, a few kids had some mental lapses in the waning seconds but over all this years matchups and outcomes were fantastice.
Hats off to Oddo, in control thoughout and this is one of the smartest efforts I have ever seen in section one.
All the Hall of Famers were well deserving esp coaches Canty and De Simone.
I did not get to see Berkowiz at all he won to quickly and is another reason not to have both championships simultaneously.
Tony, I think a special mention should be made concerning the Haldane 215 win over Vingo, it was the upset of the weekend, just a great heavyweight bout.
Special congrats to Sal Imbimbo, the new Mickey DeSimone and also to “Monoply Man” great way to end your section one career. To Vinny and the other 31 your section one titles are not the end but “The Beginning” give em hell in 2 weeks you all may just surprise yourselves..
I really feel the need to tip my hat to Coach Swertfager and the team of John Jay Cross-River. I remember when we wrestled them their first year back on varsity about 6 years ago and to see them go from that first year, where they took their lumps, to the total team they are now is quite impressive. He has built a tremendous program and they are a well-drilled, well-conditioned team who will continue to be a force in the years to come. He is my unofficial “Coach of the Year” in Section I.
Coachs Swertfager and “Pat” of JJCR are incredible role models. Regardless of your pesruit in life success only comes when passion and hard work are combined. Their wrestlers,if paying attention, are being taught much more then wrestling. Congrats to them both. Also, the hand print of John Degl continues to be all over Sectiton I wrestling. His contribution can’t go unnoticed. This does not diminish the excellence of many of the coaches throughout Section I who work hard to enhance the experience for all those (with a wide range of abilities) in their rooms. Nevertheless Mr. Degl continues to raise the skill level of many in section I.
Dear Coach M and Observer,
You are so right to mention Bill Swertfager’s great accomplishments with the JJCR program. I’ve been privileged to see it from the inside, built from the ground up. What a story it is. One big part of it is Bill’s willingness to bring in great coaching staff, starting with Pat Spirelli, Mike Mandell, John Degl, Adam Kern, CJ Sylvester, and a special mention to Anthony Tortora this year. Each one of these men offer our wrestlers something unique, and the total package is unbeatable. Bill lets his wrestlers find what works best for each of them as individuals, but he is there as the overall guiding force. Amazing humility. A true leader. That’s what his wrestlers learn, from his example. They work on their own game. They work on the team. They coach the younger kids, including the youth program wrestlers. They learn by Bill’s example to set an example of everyone coming up behind them. I know there are other coaches out there doing the same great work with their wrestlers, so I don’t mean to say Bill’s the only one. It’s just that Bill does it so very well. And he’s OUR coach.
Thanks Bill.
very disappointed with the rockland county turnout at sectionals, ive seen rockland county be completely overtaken now by the other counties in sec one over the past 14 years the only bright spots this year champs ramos and cifuni from clarkstown north coach mellino and his staff have brought a level of consistancy to their program and in the past three years started a kids wrestling program to eventually feed into the high school led by coaches john roden, jack granata, and chris granata only expectations of success can be seen for norths rams future.
i liked to watch all the wrestling it is excitng
on my birthday i will get new wrestling shoe and practice my penitraion to win my 1st sec championships
zurla got wupped, wildcards in high school wrestling take the mystique, and all around feeling of great achievement from the champions . its time to take a step back and toughen the sport of wrestling back the way it used to be back to the way guys like dan gable envisioned it to develop a high intesity fast pace sport that is fun to watch winner takes all none of this big school small school med school…. what the hell is going on now wildcards lets just throw them some bats and balls and let them play baseball instead.this sport was once a sport on the virge of extiction… it still is wrestling is the first sport schools decide to drop lets fight for our sport not change it to conform and soften it up. these kids wrestle because it is tough because it is hard ,because of the obstacles if it wasn’t everyone would do it… wrestling is not for everyone!
yea just for the record that post was not me I really have no idea who that was. Can anyone tell me what C.D.T. is though i’d love to know lol. good luck to all section 1 wrestlers up at states
unsilent majority, I appriciate your thoughts on toughness but I couldn’t disagree more about the wild card. We need to move more in that direction and have more kids go to states. Sending more doesn’t affect the level of toughness at all. If anything it raises the bar and gets “more” better wrestlers there. With all do respect your way of thinking has limited this sport. These kids deserve more not less. Best of luck to all in Albany!
Mark,
You are a great sport. I had the oppurtunity to watch you talk to my son and I got to speak with you. I must say it is not often to see a kid like you. I am sure you will succeed in whatever you set your mind to. Keep your head up and don’t listen to those that are only jealous of you and your accomplishments! Best of luck and Thank YOU!
i wrestled for ossining almost 20 yrs. ago kids used steroids then in sports ,especially wrestling and football. they also couln’t drink or smoke because it would effect the results the steroids would provide .dont be so gullable its around more than you could possibly imagine.i was @ sections and that kid is jacked up for a 125lb. high school kid.
Congratulations to all the Section One champs – it was a pleasure to watch you this past weekend at Pace. To Ryan – two years ago when you were so ill in the hospital, we prayed to God everyday for you to recover and come back to us. Because of His Grace, your hard work, determination and most of all faith, your dream of going to states has come true!
Good luck to everyone! We will be there in Albany cheering you all on!
Congratulations to all the all county wrestlers on a great season.
Make your own luck at States
John Degl
Facts to ponder:
30% of all 2007 Division-1 All-County wrestlers train at the Iowa Style Wrestling Club. I am sure many of the others train off-season as well.
43 % of all All-County wrestlers trained at ISW at one time in their career.
12 of the 30 finalist (40 %) train at ISW. I am sure all of the finalist train somewhere all off-season. Their dedication to excellence is something to admire.
Last year we had a very solid showing at States. This year we should do as well or better. The effects of the clubs and coaches who run open mats are paying dividends.
See you in Albany.
John Degl
In reference to Mike Artis and your accusations about Dom Oddo.
I remember you wrestling 20 years ago and prefer to remember you as the athlete you were and the section you represented. You are an adult now and it is embarrassing to listen to your accusations without any proof whatsoever. I know Dom and his family and know how hard he works to achieve his goals. You owe them an apology right here in this blog and if you are still the champ that I remember you as, you will respectfully offer it.
Coach P, Nice try..It’s amazing how “mike A” is trying to make a point on “his “observation. I too know the family and Mike A couldn’t be more wrong! Mike do us all, yes other guys who wrestled 20 years ago and in college, a favor…get some facts and base your garbage opinion on that. I am sorry you feel the need to bring a 17 year old kid down by your nonsense. Sounds like you haven’t moved past your ole career…bitter bitter old man-. I’, your age and wrestled competitively and have nothing but respect for these kids and how hard the all work. Grow up.PS The empire states have an open division…try it…....maybe it will remove some of the bitterness you have. good luck
Please ignore such ridiculous posts by people who hide behind a screen name. Do not respond to their comments – doing so only enables them more. They will eventually stop.
Dom oddo and the oddo family are one of the classiest people in section 1 and for people to slander his good name is totally uncalled for. Dom dedicates his whole life to wrestling including nutrition which is how he is in such good shape. Honestly dom is not close to as big as some ncaa 125lbers, and he isnt as big as corey jansen was last year. Its a shame the jealous people in section 1 have to rain on this kids achievments. Also to chant steriods at an opponent during a match is so classless, would you chant racially slurs or anti-semetic remarks when a wrestler from that group is on the mat. were better than that people.
Tony,
I’m sure you can see how out of hand this is getting, with these completely unwarranted accusations flying about individual wrestlers and the obvious impersonations that could be so damaging. Isn’t this the kind of thing that ended the blog on Section 1 Wrestling last year? I’m hoping your paper is going to take a careful look at the irresponsible, malicious mudslinging being conducted on this blog and decide take a stand against it. It’s one thing to have a healthy debate. It’s quite another thing to make unfounded charges that have no basis in fact.
Diana Frost
Seeing Oddo and Zurla wrestle for 5 years now, i say that they are two of the best sports in section 1, and by far the most dedicated and hardworking. Anyone who tries to take that away from them should beat it. I, however, do not agree with the Iowa Style Wrestling program, moreso it’s facilitator, Jon Degl. He has turned off-season wrestling into a cult, and i think it is preposterous how he tries to solicit his bad sportsmanship and negative attitude to High School athletes. He should be banned from the sport outright.
#1: To John Degl and Iowa Style, please stop patting yourself on the back on line. Many people have given you and your program just due credit the last several years, to do so yourself is cheap and tawdry and a very low rent style of advertising your services. Like I suggested last year, you spend some $ and take an ad out in the paper or wherever and stop subjecting us to it here.
#2: To Mike Arits if it is you, stop making unfounded statements about kids on line. If you had seen Oddo before this year you would know that he has grown in a normal progression, he has always been very strong and has not had any marked, unexplained jumps in his weight over the years. Your statements hurt not only Dom and his father but also coach Imbimbo.
In addition, from the grammar etc used in your posts, it makes me wonder just where my tens of thousands of school tax dollars have been going to all these years.
Quick question regarding the 140 pound final: I missed much of the match but did catch the last 30 seconds. From my vantage point, it seemed as if Galea actually “let” Spiegal go near the end rather than ride him out for the last 10 seconds. Is that what happened or did I miss something? Just curious…
Ahearns match was the most exciting of the night, even though the points in the last second techincally could be argueable, a tremendous second effort to come out with the win.
Im not going to sit here and say Oddo took steroids, but the amount of effort and practically his life that he put into training is amazing. He grew both physically and mentally, instead of being the “runt” of the match, he looked in better shape then zurla. he was also totally ready for that 3rd period Top attack from zurla, no tilt or cradle was going catch him, thats for sure.
And to whoever called Dom Oddo’s father “classy” needs to either osberve the man more at tournaments and dual meets, or just stop kidding themselves.
What defines classy first off? If you are thinking of a person in a suit who says please and thankyou every five seconds then you are retarded. Go ahead look around at a wrestling tournament and point out one person who applies to this. Mr. Oddo deserves respect. He’s a Naval Academy Graduate, and a veteran of two wars. If you have something against a person who has put his life on the line for our country then there is seriously something wrong with you.
There is Hudsonvalleyhswrestling.com to view certain quarter, semi and final matches… should anyone have questions…
I am really having seconds thoughts about the wild card and in particular about stronger sections where a wrestler defeats (as in the case of Zurla-Oddo)a highly ranked wrestler or upsets one and then has to contend with the same wrester at the states. I have issues that an Island wrestler has to defeat the same wrester to place or even win. It is very difficult to defeat a wrestler 2 or three times and the win at sections should suffice. Here’s a thought…How about offering the wild card to a div II wrestler?
i cannot believe all the crap that people are writing in. Tony has done a great job of providing people with information and thoughts into section 1 wrestling and it has turned out to be the “Enquirer”. Dom Oddo wins the match that everyone had been talking about it and because of that he and his father are getting mud thrown at them. I guess it is not possible for someome to be in great shape unless they use enhancements????? If Marc had won would Marc’s name be thrown around? Oddo trains 11 months a year, I would hope he would be in great shape. And he really isn’t that big. Again, give credit where credit is due and get on with your day.
WILD CARDS – I just read this post below by a respected blogger on the Long Island Wrestling Site. If it true its terrible for Section 1 and Marc Zurla….
“The weaker sections (those in the bottom 4) were actually informed just prior to sections that they will not be considered for wild card selection and need not submit their point totals.
That officially awards this years NYSPHAA screw job of the year award to Marc Zurla.
Zurla is past state runner up who lost section finals to another returning state place winner.”
To Everyone saying bad and untrue things about my Coach and my teamate- Dom oddo jr trains harder then anyone in section one. He won the match its over no amount of complaining can change the fact he now has 2 huge wins over marc. mike artis I laugh at the fact that you think dom is on the “juice” mabey you are just jelous that he is more sucessful then you where. There where 2 kids from section one who went to top notch tournments such as flias and freestyle and grecco nationals in fargo Nd … Dom oddo and myslef. I got the honor of seeing how that motovated individual trains and I have have the utmost respect for him. I can promise you this he is all natural and ready to win a state title.
As for my Coach, I have a world of respect for this man. He is a detacated coach and father. He is a very sucessful person. He was a great wrestler in his time and still is. That man risked injury by wrestling with me at practices (hes 140-150 i am 260) because he believed that I have a shot at becoming a state champion. If that is not “classy” or respectable then i dont know what is.

Who thinks that if boersma didnt get hurt so quickly, that he could have upset brundage?
And where do people see brundage, a sophmore, in this years state tournament, and future sectional ( and state ) tournaments?
I hope someone can track down who is impersonating other people and ban them somehow. Not only is that last poster obviously fake, but quite possibly the posts from the Ossining wrestler from 20 years ago is also.
These people are weak and immature. Track down their IP address and lets ferret out these jerks.

Good. I’m glad it was erased.

Probably the most direct explanation how wild-card wrestlers are determined. It’s from Don DeBadts, the state wrestling coordinator, as he explained in a Rochester newspaper:
The byes of previous years in each weight class will be filled with at- large wrestlers from around the state this season.
“That means 120 other wrestlers will get the opportunity to compete for a state title, said Don DeBadts of Geneseo, the state wrestling chairman.
That is why there is a week break this year between the SuperSectionals and the state tournament, in order for officials to determine those at- large wrestlers. DeBadts indicated that he hoped to have the state pairings posted online by sometime on Wednesday.
There are numerous criteria for the second- and third-place finishers to determine who receives the at-large berths from around the state.
“Won-loss record. Take the wins and subtract your losses, that’s the points the wrestler gets for that, said DeBadts. “There are bonus points for finishing in the sectionals years before, as many years as the wrestler has gone in his career. There are points for placing in the state meet any year.
“There are power points for how well your section has done in the state meet years before. If you’re in the top four sections, you get 10 power points. The middle four get five, and the bottom four sections won’t get any power points. The better sections will have a better chance of getting the at-large guys in.

Dave Columbo
If that is really you, you should be ashamed of yourself. No wonder the taxpayers in Mahopac are ticked off, have you learned anything in 13 years other than how to wrestle.
PS Good luck in 2 weeks and do not let Coach I down.
who thinks columbo is gonna get mercked at states? I do.
DEAR FELLOW WRESTLING FANS
I am sorry to see the season end, but at least I will have more time to do laundry on weekends (that’s meant to be humorous for those of you that might not be able to recognize humor)
Thank Heaven for spring wrestling.
So let’s get serious for the moment; maybe it’s me, but I really feel sorry for those of you that make assinine moronic statements about the character of our wrestlers.
If you want to criticize one of these kid’s (remember that’s what they are) performance on the mat, go right ahead.
To make false statements & accusations about the possiblity of enhancing drugs is vile B.S. & attacks their character.
Mr. or is it Miss Artis – you lead the pack & are totally absent of character – your diction & spelling are also made out of crap – so please do not brag about Ossining H.S. as it will impune O.H.S.’s reputation.
I know both Dom & Marc – Marc for about 9 years & Dom for about 5 yaers.
Both of them set an example in Sec. 1 as fine upstanding
young men.
Both of them are “A” students as well.
How would you explain that, surely it’s not drugs – or are you going to acuse them of taking mind enhancing substances that give them the edge in the classroom.
What does come out of your comments is sour grapes & lack of
character on your part.
Ciao Grasshoppers & if I am lucky I will be at the Empires coaching my 2 sons.
P.S. for translations of the above comments use Websters New Collegiate Dictionary, Roget’s Thesaurus & The Book of 5 Rings (LOL)
Ok, I know it has been said about throwing unfounded accusations around, but people also need to stop attacking the way these kids write. Dave took a very bold step in putting himself out there in a such a public manner to defend his teammate and coach. That integrity and loyalty says more about who he is than whether or not a word or two was mispelled. I’d rather have a school system that teaches our kids character and how to be a good, honest person than a school system that enables our kids to spell every word right but than to use that ability to viley attack teenagers defending their friends.
To Another Observer (and Dave Colombo)
Well said. Dave was right to speak his mind, and who among us never makes a mistake, anyway. Really. It’s more important to have the guts to speak your mind than it is to do it perfectly.
Let’s all support our wrestlers as they go to States. They need to concentrate on the task at hand and not get distracted by unimportant things.
Best of luck to all you Section 1 guys. I’m looking forward to watching you take home some gold.
Diana
Besides, this is an online forum, some people do not see the need to correct every single little grammatical and spelling error in the post, and in the end did you understand what they said? yes. so stop complaining.
To Coach P – I agree with your second thoughts about the wild card. At first I thought the wild card berth might be a good thing but – the win at sectionals should suffice. Why should there be a possibity that a wrestler may have to face the same wrestler that he beat at sectionals to get to states? One guy goes – there is only one 1st place. I’m trying to understand the thought process but …
For Artis or whatever your name was- Dom Oddo barely ever even lifts weights. He doesnt even take creatine or protein supplements that many kids take. Nevermind him taking any sort of illegal substance. If you knew him you would understand how rediculous that statement was. He has a muscular build due to his genetics and the fact that he works hard year round so that he can stand on top of the podium rather than hold a silver metal. I think Colombo stated everything needed to be said. No offense to Marc Zurla, who is a very good wrestler, but since Oddo was the underdog everyone has to make excuses about why he won.
And as far as anyone saying anything negative towards Coach Oddo you are absolutely pathetic. You wouldn’t even sign your name, which I don’t blame you, I would be scared to also if I was badmouthing an Ex-Navy Seal. Coach Oddo has done so much for our Mahopac program and maybe you just said it out of jealousy of the fact that our coaches get one of the smaller amount of wrestlers per year and still come out with several champions. Coach Oddo is one of the smartest and most respectable men I have ever met in my life. It made me sick when I read that comment, how anyone could say that about such a generous man.
Good Luck at states to everyone
