thanks tony – you’re the best!

  2. JJ

So I guess Jake’s feeling better eh? Congratulations to Fox Lane I didn’t like their chances at winning the team title but they proved me wrong.

  3. Old Fan

    who were the MOWs?

  4. wrestler152

Wow Udit won at 135 good job.

  5. wrestler

    great wrestling everyone

  6. Diana Frost

Watching the matches today at Pace, I was profoundly moved with a renewed respect for what it takes to win a Section championship. It takes courage and guts and the kind of willingness to endure pain and sacrifice that most of us admire but are never willing to endure ourselves. Every single one of the guys who competed in the sectionals, and especially those who placed in the top six, deserves our respect. For those guys whose passion overcame them, for those guys whose heart led them to make mistakes in the heat of the moment, work hard in life so that doesn’t overcome you next time. For the champions, congratulations. You have a lot to be proud of. For the rest of you, we’re all proud to watch you work so hard—it’s humbling to be a parent of a Section 1 wrestler. Thanks to all the atheletes for pouring your hearts and souls into a thrilling weekend of competition. You all deserve our support and respect.

  7. shoebox

    Udit won MOW

  8. My 2 cents

Good for him – it was the best match of the day

  9. a wrestler

    what happened to pico???

  10. wrestling's not for wimps

I second everything that Diana Frost said and all the best to those wrestlers representing our Section at the States!

  11. wrestling's not for wimps

    To “a wrestler”:
Pico had a rough night -he sas pinned very quickly 3 times.

  12. someguy

what happened to trumm and Correy Scott in the wrestle backs, 5th place???

  13. SEC ONE FAN

Scott took 5th. He beatCalero. Trumm took sixth because Dibetta was disqualified. Lopez had to ff and take fourth because of injury caused by Dibetta taking a cheap shot to his face. TALK ABOUT SORE LOSER AND REALLY BAD SPORT.

  14. section one

Did Dibetta punch Lopez in the face after the match was over? I had heard Lopez had 9 stitches to close the wound.
I think Dibetta face more than just being disqualified. He is on the lacrosse team. Banning him from lacrosse would be appropriate.

  15. wrestler152

how was the Zeke Weiner match the score was only 2-1

  16. joe b

Tony…What is happening with Section 1 wrestling. We had a parent being removed from a venue for throwing a headgear at an official. Two officials celebrating a horrible call in a match with a terrible display. And one wrestler punching another wrestler causing him to forfiet the rest of his matches because of injury . What is the solution. This goes from parent to official to competitors. There has been finger pointing all season long. This and last weekend are not the only times that there has been name calling and acusations of inproprieties in the sport. Should a committee be appointed to look into these cases. Wrestling is the greatest individual high school sport. It is mano on mano. Something has to be done.

  17. JJ

Brian embarassed himself and his team, that cost JJ the team title. I hope he learns a lesson.

  18. just wrestle

jj fell apart the second day

  19. wrestling's not for wimps

    To Mr. Me:

According to Tony P.’s posts, JJCR did not lose because of Brian DiBetta’s actions. Unfortunately, lots of other “losses” were realized due to his behavior, which had nothing to do with points… and they are being dealt with. Hopefully this behavior will never be repeated by any of our wrestlers. Now lets’s move on and cheer for all of our Section 1 champs! And a special toast to those who are going there for the first time!!!

  20. btown bears

What happened to lopez should have never happened. Dibetta is a sore loser and there is no other way to put it. He deserves severe punishment. Mike should have achieved the MOW award for having achieved something as amazing as beating the #1 seed when noone expected him to. He, unlkike Dibetta worked for what he accomplished during his wrestling career. Winning or losing, he always contained his anger and let it out in a responsible matter like a good wrestler would.

  21. wrestlerchea

what happend to trumm? Vinny Debenedetto who came 3rd in section 9 beat lopez (2-0 3OT) and thakur(3-2), but lost to trumm(8-3)

  22. Adit udits bro

yo all i know is that udit worked his butt offf evry single day and he pushed himself to get those 2 points for a reversal in 4 second remaining. I was the kid who stopped the refes and stuff with the towel
