I don’t know where you received your information but these are not OFFICIAL yet.

  3. Coach warren

Sectioniiiwrestling.com has the entire list. The power points killed kids like rose, tompkins, and solis who missed by 1 or 2 pts. Had 285 counted prior to january 1 solis would be at states.

They are on the Section 3 website under “Breaking News”

I am going by what Section 1 chair Eric Romanino told me. These are still technically “unofficial” until noon Thursday. Crazier things have happened, especially when it comes to Section 1.

We still don’t know if an A5 that is a point or two away from the fourth and final spot won’t contest, especially if it’s a Long Island wrestler.

    Stay tuned.

    Tony-
You are right, sorry for jumping the gun. There is an appeal
    process that I forgot about.

Should these be official, the wildcard process did its job effectively. I would have loved to see Rose go but 112 is a deep weight class statewide. Ditto for Ahearn.

Coach Warren is right – this is where the efforts of some people to increase the quality of wrestling in Section 1 will pay off. Hopefully we can surprise some people next weekend to better our position for the future.

they’re not official, they were preliminary

  9. SECTION1FAN

I THINK JOHN COFFEY AND STEVE RAMOS AND MIKE AHEARN SHOULD GET THE WILDCARDS WEINER IS A GOOD WRESTLER BUT THESE KIDS COULD REALLY DO SOMETHING AT STATES..JOHN COFFEY IS ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING WRESTLERS IN SECTION 1 AND HE DESERVES IT THE MOST THATS A KID WHO CAN BUMP AROUND TO DIFFRENT WEIGHTS AND STILL GET WINS ANYWHERE

  10. kingpin21

Coffey is definitely a good wrestler…i wouldn’t go as far to say hes great there are much better wrestlers in our section not to take anything away from Coffey.

  11. robb

does anyone know what they will do with the bracket since coffey is supposed to face antonioli in the first round? will he be moved to a2?

  12. wuzgood

true dat. ahearn pinned D GLUCK in 20 seconds and therefore he should be a wild card

  13. anonomous

who is ben wienstein and if he didnt place in top 3 in sections no he cant make it also he had to have done reallywell last year so the answer is no he will not if he is from section one

  14. Beasty215

Well???? It’s after noon on Thursday. Eric said he’d send them!!!

  15. crashnburn

robb, they definitely will not face each other in 1st round. I believe that Coffey would drop from the A1 wildcard to A2.

  16. WrestlingGENIUS

What about Lustig? He beat Justin Caro who was all state in 2006. Also what about Matt Fernandez. Look out for Fernando because even though he lost his partner Forehead, he will probably place in states.

  17. rocks

    genuis,
by what stretch of the imagination would lustig get a card? I think you were joking, he got beat by kids who will likely go 2 and out this year. There are kids who really deserved it this year…why take one of there places away for someone who can’t make it to the weakest of section finals

  18. ???/

    whos lustig

  19. pinball101

Well? What happened? I hope Coffey made it, him and Antonioli had a couple of unbelievable matches this year, and the section final match was no different. My guess is he made it, considering he was a champ last year, although small school, and he beat weinstein this year, although almost lost via chancellor. I hope ahearn makes it too, great wrestlers both of them

  20. pinball101

rocks, true, lustig technically can not be a wild card. however, even though he was not great throughout this whole year, do not forget that caro victory, and other big ones he had, he also gave fernandez a run for his money, and fernandez is great at all aspects of the sport, especially conditioning (I was on his team at one point, I would know) I also think the outcome at 119 may have been different if Jessie Trumm was in the mix. we may never know

  21. rocks

u both are crazy. everyone has an off day and everyone has an on day.

  22. pinball101

why are all my posts being deleted? and I think that it is a real shame neither ahearn or rose is a wild card, I think both especially rose had a legit shot to place

  23. Coach Wilfer

I am sorry for Ahearn and Rose, it is ridiculous that neither of them was able to place, especially after Ahearn’s huge win against Gluck, that was a hell of a match, it lasted a really long time, as do most of Gluck’s matches. I think both of them would have had a shot at placing, and they will both be remembered as wrestlers who were a force.
