Tony-
I was just on the Long Island Wrestling Association website and they have the updated brackets and it says Realbuto lost to Damon Mcqueen 10-8 for 3rd and 4th
Really o0o theres a misprint on the armdrag brackets then….
Last Season d1 and d2: Berkowits, Flamio, Oddo, Clarke, and Arcarra (6th alternate)
This season- Realbuto, Flamio, Grippi, oddo (6th alternate), Brunderage, Osleeb, Carter, Coffey, Stambrowsky, Murayma, Rice
– a little inprovment in place finishers lol hopefully next season well take it up a notch again
Congratulations guys, well deserved. You guys have shown a great work ethic and have been a positive influence on all of Section 1. John and I look forward to working with all of you during the off-season (including Coffey if you’re interested).
Poor Dom
Section 1
Division 1
96lbs-Brian Realbuto(Somers) takes 4th. He’s ONLY in 8th Grade, so PLEASE cut’em some slack! He DEFINATELY has a bright future in this sport IF he remains HUNGRY. He wrestled TOUGH,and if he continues this way he MIGHT have a State Title in the future. I say “MIGHT” cuz he wasn’t the ONLY 8th Grader in his bracket, in fact there were two 7th Graders ALSO, one of which placed. GREAT JOB BRIAN!
112lbs-Just a month ago, he was ranked 2nd in the section UNDER Mike Rose(Carmel). Tonight Justis Flamio(Mahopac) will be wrestling for the State Championship. To Get to The Finals, Flamio defeated Brandon Escobar(Rocky Point) and Last Year’s 96lb State Champion, Steven Keith(Shoreham-Wading-River), which both have beaten Flamio on previous Occasions. Flamio’s been wrestling his heart out the past 2 days, if he does so tonight, he WILL be your 112lb State Champion. GOOD LUCK JUSTIS!!
125lbs-Joey Grippi(Fox Lane) MAY HAVE POSSIBLY pulled the BIGGEST UPSET of The Tournament and of his High School Career so far by defeating 2x State Champion Paul Ligouri(Wantagh)! Joey Takes 6th. Grippi gave a VERY IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE! GREAT JOB Man.
130lbs-Dominick Oddo(Mahopac) DOES NOT place. His High School Career consists of 4 Section Titles and 2x All-State Honors. Good Stuff Oddo. Good Luck in College.
140lbs-Luke Speno(Fox Lane) and Steven Ramos(Clarkstown North) DON’T place, but both wrestled VERY TOUGH! Both Should place Next Year.
145lbs-Tom Antonioli(New Rochelle) DOES NOT place., BUT Wild-Card John Coffey(Pearl River) takes 5th! Good Wrestling boys.
160lbs-James Brundage(Ossining) Takes 3rd!! After the match he shook the opposing coaches hands and ran down the side of the mat and did a handspring follwed by a backflip. He wrestled TOUGH and Deserved it. GREAT JOB “MAN-MAN”.
171lbs-Zeke Stambovsky(Nyack) Takes 4th. He left it ALL on the mat. Good Job Zeke.

You were RIGHT and I was wrong regarding Brian Realbuto. I misread the results. He finished fourth.
So is Flamio the only wrestler in the finals?
Flamio and Andrew Lenzi of Fordham Prep.
did the finals start yet
ATTABOY LENZI, he wrestled like a tank I saw his matches on day 1, what happened to oddo? he didn’t look mobile and did not wrestle to the level of his capabilities. however, will be remembered as a force in the state for all 4 years, and I hope he does great in college, if he wants to.

I would add some D2 comment. Congrats to Genta M. who wrestled a great tournment to place 4th. Congrats to 9th grader Ryan Osleeb who defeated Cody Dill ranked 2nd in the state, and two other section champs to place 5th on his first Varsity season. Congrats to Will Carter and David Rice.
From what I heard, Oddo was sick all week and aggrivated a concussion in his match with Lenzi which also seemed to come up in 2 of his other matches as he needed injury time to recover from head bangs. Tough weekend for him but he has so much behind him and ahead of him, he will continue to do great things. Saw him warming up Flamio before the finals and cheering on his teammate. He’s a class act. Also saw him get on the podium so did he place?
Oddo placed sixth among the public school competitors.
carter finished 5th. he was lossing to pat carter 6-4 but then pinned him in the second period i believe. i think it was recorded wrong on the bout sheet but was later fixed.
Brian Realbuto is the real deal. He should ahve been in the finals because he should have gotten a few calls against McCormick in that first match. I expect big things from this kid in the future!
