John Jay coach Bill Swertfager sent me this information concerning open mats during the offseason:

Mondays

John Jay—- 6-7:30 Starts March 31st Scarsdale—- 6:30-8:00 Starts March 17th

Tuesdays

Ossining—- 6-8:00Starts March 22nd John Jay-East Fishkill – 7-8:30Starts March 22nd

Wednesdays

Dobbs Ferry—- 6:30-8:00 Starts March 17th Clarkstown South—- (I’m checking into this with John Laurenzi) Mahopac—- 5:30-7:00Starts March 19th

Thursdays

Sleepy Hollow—- 7-8:30 Starts March 27th Brewster—-6-7:30 p.m. Starts April 3

    Open mats @ South per John Laurenzi:

    Open mats at Clarkstown South HS
    Monday and Wednesday from 7-9:00pm Starting Wed April 2nd! USA card required. Any athlete who wishes to participate MUST have their card in their possesion or they will be charged $40 at the door.

    Open Mats @ Port Chester:

    Tuesdays from 6:00 to 8:00 – USA card required.

    nick gizzo is the best wrestler to ever come out of section 1. Look for his brother Dean to be an all-star in the future.

    Lets all hear it for Tony. The season is over and he has other assignments to work on and he is still working on this blog to help all the section kids improve. Tony is putting the info out there, it is up to the wrestlers to use it. Get to an open mat at least once a week and keep working folk style, don’t worry about Greco and Freesytle, most of you have not mastered Folk yet.

    East Rampoo, CN, Suffren, Nyack, Tappan Zee, Pearl River, NJ kids here and there, Port Chester, and some more

    there will also be open mats in crotons on wednesdays, Im not sure about the time but if you find out please post that

    who cares about rankings. there fun but dont live by them. just wrestle more and get better. go to these open mats or 2 a club like degls or one of the jersey ones like premier or olympic. i also heard theres one in the dutchess area by arlington but i forgot the name.

    Mamaroneck has an open mat on Thursday from 5:00-6:30
    New Rochelle has an open mat on Wednesdays I believe.
    I heard that Pleasantville was supposed to be having them too but haven’t head any days or times.
