John Jay repeats

December
16

Once again,  John Jay is the Section 1 dual-meet wrestling champion. The Indians defeated Suffern in the final, 43-15 after besting Somers 50-27 in the semifinal. Carmel took third by beating Somers in the consolation match. Before I get to the box scores, I found it interesting that, to a man, John Jay seemed to be wrestling with a chip on its shoulder. The Indians seemed like they weren’t being given enough credit because they lost so much to graduation. John Jay was very, very impressive in the final, losing only one match besides two forfeits. Clearly, no one will be underestimating John Jay anymore, if they ever were.

    JJCR looks tough as nails.

They took apart Suffern who beat FL, so I would have to

    rank them 1st.

    1. JJCR
    2. Suffern
    3. Fox Lane
    4. Carmel
    5. Somers

    cya

  2. unknown

one thing i would have fox lane ranked up there but they will have to be ranked #5 for team sectionals because they did not make it to the final four so the rankings would be
    1. JJCR
    2. Suffern
    3. Carmel
    4. Somers
    5. Fox Lane

If they had made the final four then they would be ranked in the top 4 not fair to those teams who actually did make the semi’s to place them below fox lane

  3. JJ

    top 10:
    1) JJCR
    2) Suffren
    3) Somers
    4) FL
    5) Carmel
    6) North rockland
    7) Ossining
    8) New Rochelle
    9) Brewster
    10) Beacon/Clarkstown North

  4. wrestler

ok hear are real rankings because carmel beat somers

    1. JJCR
    2. Suffern
    3. Carmel
    4. Somers
    5. Fox lane
    6. Brewster
    7. Ossining
    8. North Rockland
    9. Clarkstown North
    10. Beacon

those would be the real rankings if id say so

  5. hola

Haha Um Mahopac? Arlington? where are these teams clarkstown north, new ro, and beacon rnt close

  6. hola

also you should do 2 rankings. 1 for duals and 1 for tournaments.

  7. Lowsingle

I agree…Dual meet rankings and tournament rankings are completely different….For example, while Fox Lane might not be the best dual meet team this year, they will score big points in tournaments….College wrestling does both

  8. unknown

ok lowsingle and hola we also do both so be quite if you want the tournament rankings wait till individual tournaments start up then we will make those rankings as well and usually they are posted on sectiononewrestling.com once the weekly rankings come out

  9. Just a Fan

Anyone have any idea when the rankings come out

  10. THE BOOCH

I don’t know way ever one care so much about team rankings because last time I checked this is an individual sport. So E if u can do me a solid and talk to some coaches and get some individual ranking up that would be awesome

  11. Eric Lebowitz

I definitely will work on getting an individual ranking together. I’m headed to North Rockland/Port Chester today, and with more good tournament action this weekend, we’ll all have more results to sink our teeth into. As far as dual-meet rankings, obviously I think the top four are hard to dispute, considering the recent results. Wrestler, the only place I might disagree with you a little is I might put North Rockland a bit higher. The Red Raiders’ quarterfinal against JJ was closer than JJ’s semifinal or final.

  12. Any

Hopefully we can get some postings tomorrow given any
changes to the weekend schedule b/c of weather

  13. Eric Lebowitz

Yes that is a guarantee. I will be on the phones tomorrow and will post any weather issues that arise.

  14. ECwrestler

Hey Eric whats the best tournament you would recomend to go watch this weekend?

  17. Realbuto

Somers’ Brian Realbuto is at 99 wins, going for 100 in his first match at the NCN duals. It will probably be on Saturday morning, being it will most likely be postponed tomorrow.

To Somers, WE DO NOT CARE!!!!!
