Well I was at Clarkstown North today for an extremely fun and well-run tournament. The tournament was run in a round robin format, and the home team had a great day, taking five individual titles. I wasn’t in the office today, so I don’t have all the results from NCN duals, but I do have some info. First of all, I want to extend congratulations to both Lakeland’s Joseph Hauser and Somers’ Brian Realbuto for getting their 100 wins. Always impressive to see someone get to the century mark, and I also think it’s an indication of the hard work these guys put in.
Now, I believe NCN duals is going to conclude Monday, rather than Sunday, because of the impending inclement weather. From what I understand, any bad weather tonight will mean a postponement until Monday. Either way, I’ll be there. Below are the results of the Clarkstown North tourney today. Just a few quick thoughts: Andrew Greenberg (CN) and Peter Telesnik (Pv) were dominant. I was also impressed with West Islip’s Steven Copolla, who won at 96 pounds. Overall, Pleasantville and Clarkstown North both had great days, combining for nine individual titles.

Eric, Please post 1st day results of Saturday’s Yorktown tournament.
Eric,
I’m not sure if you’re aware, but Realbuto is the fastest wrestler to 100 wins in Section 1 history, and possibly the state. Carpinello just wrote a feature on him today; it’s worthy of a lot more than a simple congratulations, as he might end up being the best to ever come out of the area.
How about brewster? beating somers (change of subject)
Brewster is tough this year. I’ve had a few coaches mention to me after wrestling them that they are really strong this year.
Brewster beat Somers last year also so not a total shock. True, in years past Brewster lost to Somers frequently and Somers has had and still has a great wrestling progam. I think the difference is that many of the wrestlers that are now on the Brewster varsity team had excellent coaching through the Brewster wrestling club (4th through 8th grade?). Most of, if not all of the youth coaches are dads of current varsity wrestlers. I won’t name them here but they know who they are and thanks – they put in countless hours (and some still do) and my son has benefited greatly. !
To have a successfull varsity team you need to have a club that starts teaching them when they’re in middle school or even younger.
Congrats to Somers’ B. Realbuto and the 96lb D. Realbuto looks great as well ! – Brewster Dad
Thanks to Brewster varsity coaching as well of course, they’ve done a great job and I am pretty sure like most H.S. coaches without great monetary benefits for all their efforts.
They also teach sportsmanship as well, you do not see enough of that these days. The entire team will stand and applaud after each match even in a loss. Too often you see opposing coaches not even get off their chairs to shake an opponent’s hand.
Thanks to them as well !
Eric, is there some type of website that has the rankings of big school and small school weight classes yet? A pre season ranking list or even one up to date?
