NCN Duals

Well I just got back, and as some of you may already know, John Jay is the winner. I have all the scores from the individual matches, which are posted below. As for box scores, I apologize, but with so many matches taking place, and the meet starting at 4 p.m., there was just no way for me to type them all up at the meet and file my story by deadline. As it was, I had to hurry. I will however, try to get as many boxes as possible from the coaches themselves. This brings me to another point. In all sports, not just wrestling, we count on coaches to call in matches and games. When I am not in the office, when I’m covering matches, I can’t track down scores. I understand coaches sometimes get frustrated waiting on hold, but if we don’t get the scores called in, we don’t have them for the paper or the blog. So if anyone reading is a coach or involved in the program in any way, please try your best to call your matches in.
One more note on box scores, I was able to get all the John Jay matches from Day 1 courtesy of Bill Swertfager. Those are also below.

Eric,
First off. Are you kidding me. They have to call in scores and wait on hold. What along with all the layoffs they took away everyone’s computer. Email is even an archaic way to go, but none the less still here in the 21st century. If I were a coach after a long day and called in and had to wait on hold.. not a chance.
If they are emailed you could simply cut and paste. Other sections actually let the coaches put it directly into a website.
Why did you delete my post? Was it offensive in some way?
Just trying to help
I must say I do have to say I am sorry to ERIC as I diden’t give him a chance when I said were is Tony. Eric has been writing the best wrestling articals I have ever seen in the paper. WOW great job
Thanks Eric
Just a Fan – first of all, I have never deleted a single post on this blog. Not one. So I’m not sure if either an editor did it, or maybe you were looking under the wrong post when you came back to look for it? Secondly, games have ALWAYS been called in. This is not a change. We could not simply cut and paste if the boxes were e-mailed, because the fonts are all different. And I have personally talked to coaches, and believe me, they would not be enthusiastic about typing their boxes up either. In hockey and basketball, coaches can sometimes input stats into a Website, but they still have to call the scores in to give other details about the game. And coaches from swimming, bowling, skiing, etc., all call their scores in. This is not a change in the system that occurred recently, it’s been this way for a long time. That said, I don’t disagree that it might not be a perfect system, but I also haven’t heard someone come up with anything definitively better. Just a Fan, I do appreciate your passion!
And to Richard – thank you very much for your kind words. Believe me, they are much appreciated. I will be at Carmel/Suffern today, probably sitting at the scorers table. Come by and say hello.
just letting you know eric you said the wrong name for the jjcr 112 pounder in the hen hud match. His name is david egeler. His younger brother is 96 pounder.
Brewster 65 Ossining 25
OK.
If you are not deleting my posts who is?
Here is a simple question. Why are we not getting individual scores this year when last year tony would post them religously late the night before. I mean they had 9 duals and the only ones we get are JJCR.
Thanks to coach Swertfager, who truly sets an example with everything he does.
I do want you to know that we do appreciate all the work you have been doing. You have big shoes to fill and its not an easy task at all.
thats because john jay is the best team there and reported the scores??????????? maybe the other schools didnt report the score to him

Eric,
Every year by now the Journal News lists ranking for each weight class. They usually list who the top three are in each weight class. It has always been out by Christmas. When can we expect it this year?
That would be a nice Christmas present !~

By the way I got all nine teams write in my predictions
Merry XMAS everybody. Booch…very, very impressive predictions for NCN. Well done sir. As for the rankings. I have to be honest with you guys, I’m working on it now, but as you know, I haven’t been on this beat all that long, so I haven’t seen all the top guys yet. I’m getting there, but I don’t feel entirely comfortable posting it just yet. Give me a chance to see another couple of tournaments, and I’ll be ready. I know people want rankings now, but I don’t want to do it before I feel like I have all the info necessary. Thanks for understanding, and happy holidays to everyone and their families.
Rankings
Will Eric copy Tony P rankings off the section one web site when he has them ?
Eric,
Wrestling parent is right. Because the guys who placed in the top three or four last year, that holds some weight, regardless of whether you’ve seen them this year or not. Tony’s rankings on the Section One website are very accurate.
sectiononefan,
Eric can not just take the top three or four from last year and post the rankings, that would make no sense. Many of them graduated and many have moved up in weight. He’s right that he has to see more before he ranks them. In the mean time anyone writing posts can rank the wrestlers and leave it up to further discussion. That has happened on the SectionOne forum.
MidHudsons start tommarow and I havent heard a peep. Its the the toughest section 1 tournament so far this year. Top teams include Rocky Point, Longwood, both are top 5 in sec 11, balwin sec 8, Mahopac, Newburgh, Ossining, and arlington. Some top local individuals include Flamio, Osleeb, and Brundage. Dutchess kids Muckenheim, Cabibbos, Barry, Tompkins and out section Laria and spearman of nfa, Pecora of baldwin, and Ross, Dutton, and Volpe of Rocky point. 119 looks like the best weight class with 3 section champs Flamio, Osleeb, and Laria, and a section runner-up(lost 1-0 to rugirello) in Kaare Stockdale of kingston last years 119 champ. Will they all be there or will some bump to 25 a cabibbo- Flamio rematch could be a possibilty. Should be a great weekend for wrestling.
Eric, Are you wishing you were on the bowling beat now? Much less stressful
I believe one of the ways the ranking were achieved in the past was if you were uncertain, they’d call the coach to see what the wrestler’s record was. The could determine a tie-breaker.
