Three wrestlers, including two defending Section 1, Division I champions won individual titles at Arlington today. Check out a quick summary below.

Ossining’s James Brundage was named outstanding senior wrestler and Mahopac and Ossining tied for sixth place with 136 points apiece at the Mid-Hudson Valley Wrestling tournament at Arlington High School yesterday.

I haven’t spoken to anybody from Yorktown yet (I do have calls in) but the Yorktown Central Schools are closed, along with pretty much everything else, so I’m guessing NC duals will be starting tomorrow morning and not tonight. I will post any further updates.

I know people were interested in this result, so I called up Bill Swertfager and got the box. He said Monroe-Woodbury is really tough, which is no surprise considering they dominated the Section 9 dual-meet tourney thoroughly.

Once again,  John Jay is the Section 1 dual-meet wrestling champion. The Indians defeated Suffern in the final, 43-15 after besting Somers 50-27 in the semifinal. John Jay just wrapped up a 43-15 win over Suffern to win the Section 1 dual-meet title for the second year in a row.

I just got off the phone with Bill Swertfager of John Jay, and he reported that the Indians bested North Rockland 40-28 to move into the semis. John Jay will take on Somers on Tuesday. Swertfager said that his team “expects a battle against Somers.” Tuesday at Carmel should be a lot of fun.

For those of you who don’t already know, Suffern topped Fox Lane today, 37-30, and Somers beat Ossining, 43-37.
